Icon of the Seas will be the World's Largest, Wildest Cruise Ship
When the Icon Class of cruise ships from Royal Caribbean debuts, Icon of the Seas will be the first ship of its kind for the company since 2014. With a gross tonnage of 250,800, it is on track to surpass its older sisters, Harmony of the Seas and Wonder of the Seas, as the largest cruise ship in the world. Additionally, Icon of the Seas can accommodate up to 7,600 passengers, or 5,610 passengers at double occupancy. The vessel will have brand-new environmentally friendly propulsion technologies and measure 1,198 feet (365 meters) in length overall.
In January 2024, Icon of the Seas will start operating cruises from of Miami. The homeport will be Miami from January 2024 until at least April 2025. Beyond April 2025, Royal Caribbean has not yet made any preparations regarding the ship's departure port. In January 2024, Icon of the Seas will begin year-round sailing. There won't be any downtime because travelers may schedule a cruise from Miami to the Caribbean at any time of year, even around the holiday season.
There will be a total of 20 decks on Icon of the Seas, 18 of which will be guest decks. Eight different neighborhoods will be present on the megaship, including five brand-new ones: AquaDome, Thrill Island, Chill Island, Surfside, and The Hideaway. The goal of every new neighborhood is to give visitors the best possible experience. The neighborhoods will have a lot of new features and opportunities, as Royal Caribbean announced.
The 2,805 cabins on Icon of the Seas will be divided into 28 different accommodation types, with new floor plans for families of three, four, five, and more. There will be 13 suite categories, 8 balcony categories, 2 ocean view categories, and 5 inside cabin categories on the ship. 14 of the 28 cabin categories—including two types of inside cabins, four cabins with balconies, and eight suites—will be brand-new.
